Dental Bonding
Dental bonding or bonding restoration is a cosmetic procedure that is used to make minor repairs to teeth. It is a great solution to correct a misshapen tooth, a chipped or broken tooth, or a discoloured tooth, or to fill gaps between the teeth. Bonding restoration is a painless procedure that utilizes tooth-coloured composite resin to build up the tooth. In many cases, your dentist can bond several teeth in just one visit creating a look that is completely natural.
Dental Bridges
Missing teeth can cause problems in the mouth as surrounding teeth can shift out of place, causing misalignment and jaw problems. Dental bridges are connected by filing down the two healthy teeth that are adjacent to the missing tooth and attaching two crowns that hold a fake tooth in place. While this type of bridge is a traditional bridge, there are other bridge options that your dentist may recommend depending on the condition of your teeth.
Dental Fillings
Fillings are an important dental procedure as they are used to fill cavities in the teeth to prevent food particles and other bacteria from causing any infection. There are several types of material that can be used for a filling – cast gold fillings, silver fillings, tooth-coloured composites, and ceramic fillings. While both gold and silver fillings last much longer than composite and ceramic fillings, they require more work on the tooth and offer poor aesthetics.
Inlays and Onlays
With smaller cavities, your dentist will fill the area with a white or silver filling material. However, when the cavity is large, your dentist will use an inlay instead. The inlay is a solid piece that is crafted to fit the shape and size of the cavity and cemented into place. An onlay is used when only part of the upper tooth is missing. The onlay is also a single solid piece that is cemented into place.
